Candidate: Michael Louis Johnson

Who are you?

My name is Michael Louis Johnson,

I am running for City Idol because our city is in a crisis and nobody seems to be doing anything about it. In 2005 we choked through 48 days of SMOG ALERT. There were 58 cyclists and pedestrians killed by cars.

We need to make it easier for people to do the right thing. We need to develop clean air corridors, making it safer and healthier for people to get out of their cars and onto bicycles.

Why does a bike lane cost $25000 per block? Is it because our city is run like a business instead of like a government? Is it because we're so broke that we'll take any dirty money from any corporation and then throw it at the problem in the same old way, instead of learning from other cities around the world? Is it because we are so busy chasing our debt in desperation that we can't address the issues that should concern government, like public health and the development of a livable city.

Why are you running?

Breathable air, arable land and potable water are the inalienable rights of all humans. In Toronto these rights are violated in favour of the right to drive a car and the right to make money.

I am running for City Idol to defend these rights.

What should a City Councillor be?

A City Councilor should be a super hero.

We need new leaders.
