Candidate: Peter Treadwell

Who are you?

Hi I’m Pete. I came to Toronto 10 years ago to study theatre at Ryerson University. Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to work at theatres around the city and across the country. I’ve volunteered in schools, for Amnesty International and have done fundraising for numerous charitable organizations. In the down time I bartend. I try to live as sustainable a life as I can with as little impact on the environment as possible.

Why are you running?

Like many of us, I’ve been talking for way too long about our problems and how to fix them. You know what, it’s time for me to finally get involved and do something about it. Nothing is more important then the preservation and protection of our environment. Nothing. Climate change is real and it’s happening right now. Did anyone else notice when it was 10C in January for crying out loud!

There are obviously a number of issues that face our city but I think we should approach them all from an environmentally sustainable point of view. With a little change of perspective we could become an example in sustainable living for the rest of the planet.

What should a City Councillor be?

Who knows? And who cares? Let’s ask a better question. What should a great city councilor be? I suppose the list of qualities could be endless. Here’s my short list: I think they should be creative, committed, knowledgeable, compassionate, personable and above all, inspiring.

Anything else?

We live in a great city. Now let’s make it better.

We need new leaders.
